Hottie Boombalottie

The first single I released from the Poppaloopa CD actually started out as a bit of a joke between some of my friends when I was working as a post-production producer on the TV show Baywatch Hawaii. It was recorded in Honolulu, with Sandra Allen singing the hook. The music supervisor on the show was Glenn Medeiros, who had some success in the ’80s as an artist. He connected me with Lenny Silver of Amherst Records in Buffalo, New York, who decided to sign me to a small deal. Amherst released it as a maxi-single in March 2000, with remixes by KC Cohen and Björn Schaller and a B-side, “Moviestar.”

Stacy Kamano from Baywatch is on the cover, and I shot and edited the music video in Hawaii along with Brandy Ledford and Simmone Mackinnon, also from the show. Simmone even choreographed the dance routine and made some of the wardrobe the ladies wore! The video reached #10 on the pop chart of The Box music video network that summer, and the song was popular on several radio stations across the country. It later turned up in a segment on Extra and in an episode of NBC’s Las Vegas.
